Headlining this year’s Reckon National Conference is one of the world’s leading commentators on trends facing the accounting profession today, Doug Sleeter. He’ll share his views on what he calls ‘chunkification’ and new paradigms for small businesses and the professionals who support them.

Doug Sleeter is Founder of the Sleeter Group, one of the largest groups of accounting software consultants to small businesses in the United States. He’s been recognised as one of the “Top 25 Thought Leaders” in the accounting profession for the past several years by The CPA Practice Advisor and named one of Accounting Today’s “Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting” each year since 2008.

At Reckon’s National Conference Doug will outline how accounting professionals can thrive by re-thinking and re-tooling. He’ll challenge the status quo and highlight how accounting professionals can develop new business models for working with clients collaboratively via the cloud.

Key trends facing the accounting profession

In a blog post published last year Doug Sleeter outlined four key trends he sees facing the accounting profession today as ‘chunkification’, ‘zero entry’, ‘colloborative accounting’ and ‘mobile’. He said in the post that these trends “will fundamentally change the way small business owners, bookkeepers, accountants, and even taxing agencies, will use technology in their everyday activities.”

He sees a whole new world emerging in the practice of accounting and in the way small businesses use technology to manage their financial records.
