Set up advanced payroll in Reckon One after moving from Reckon Accounts

Build on the basics and discover how to save time with more efficient payroll processing.

Step 1: Set pay run preferences

Save time when processing pay runs, by limiting the amount of settings you need to adjust each time.

Set your preferences for how you want pay items populated in a pay run, and whether you want ordinary earnings to be automatically reduced when an employee takes leave.

Step 2: Create pay schedules to manage recurring pay runs

If you pay employees in a regular, predictable cadence, set up pay schedules.

Pay schedules automatically populate the pay run period, pay date, and included employees each time you start a new pay run.

Helping you create pay runs more efficiently and reduce potential errors.

Step 3: Automatically record wages in your book

Automatic payments takes the manual work out of your record-keeping. Each time you mark a pay run as paid, wages are automatically recorded as payment transactions in your book, and you can create an ABA file directly from the pay run – making it easier to pay your team and keep your records up to date.

Step 4: Invite employees to Reckon Mate

Inviting your employees to the Reckon Mate app puts their payslips and leave information right in their pocket, so fewer “Can you resend my payslip?” messages land in yours.

Step 5: Onboarding new employees? Try self-onboarding!

Self-onboarding reduces the time you spend entering new employee data into Reckon One. Invite your new employees to self-onboard, let them go through our guided onboarding process in the Reckon Mate app, then complete their onboarding by adding a few final details in Reckon One. Save time, reduce errors, and get those new employees to work faster!

Step 6: Manage employees on awards and agreements

(Payroll Plus & Premium only)

If your team is paid under awards or employee agreements, pay templates and agreements in Reckon One help you apply the right rules every time. Once set up, payroll is faster, more accurate, and easier to manage as your workforce grows.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to set up Reckon One?

Once your migration request is underway, your data will generally be converted within 3–5 business days. You’ll then have the opportunity to review your migrated data in Reckon One.

What do I need to have ready before I start?
Before you begin, it’s a good idea to have your business details, ABN, financial year information and relevant accounting or payroll details handy. If you’re migrating existing data, make sure your Reckon Accounts file is up to date before submitting it for migration.
Is moving my data from Reckon Accounts free?
Reckon offers free data migration with eligible paid Reckon One plans. The standard offer includes either a basic migration or up to one year of historical transactional data plus year-to-date data, depending on the migration option selected. Additional fees may apply if you need data converted outside the included migration scope.
Does my data come across automatically, or do I enter it by hand?
You don’t need to re-enter all your data manually. Reckon’s migration partner, MMC Convert, can transfer supported data from Reckon Accounts into Reckon One for you. The data that can be migrated depends on the migration option you choose and can include your chart of accounts, customers, suppliers, balances, invoices, bills and payroll information.
Can I keep using Reckon Accounts while I set up Reckon One?
You can continue to refer to Reckon Accounts, but once your migration has started, don’t make changes to your old books that you expect to appear in Reckon One. Changes made to your Reckon Accounts data after the migration begins won’t be carried across.
Do I need to re-enter my employees for Single Touch Payroll?
Not necessarily. When migrating from Reckon Accounts Desktop or Hosted, supported employee information can be migrated to Reckon One, including employee details, year-to-date payroll and leave balances, and pay item setup. You’ll still need to check your payroll information after migration and make sure Reckon One is correctly set up for STP before submitting your next pay run.
